Sash windows

Greenleafjoinery offers you top quality traditional box sash windows where sashes are operated with the help of lead sash weights or spring loaded sash windows, where modern spring balances are used instead of traditional sash weights.

Our new windows are made of engineered Karelian pine (with Sapele or Oak as alternative options). Modern triple layer wood engineering prevents swelling or distortion of the woodwork in future. Sash windowsills are made of hardwood as standard.

All our new windows are fitted with double glazed 24mm (4-16-4) argon gas filled K-glass units providing thermal properties of 1.1W/m2K as standard.

We use weatherpile or weatherseals for ensuring maximum draught proofing of our sash windows. All seals comply with the requirements given in BS644 for timber windows and achieve a severe weather rating of Class 4 when tested in accordance with the requirements in BS6375.

We can offer a wide variety of top class or budget ironmongery from our extensive range of the best UK suppliers we work with.

Specifications:

We have developed a modern sash window which is highly improved in performance, heat and sound insulation, maintenance and lifespan, while still maintaining traditional style and values.

Construction

Our new windows are made of engineered Karelian pine (with Sapele or Oak as alternative options). We apply high standard quality requirements to the timber. It has to be free of knots, resin pockets, splits or cracks. The timber is dried at modern kiln drying systems up to 8% (±2%) moisture content. Several layers of timber are then glued together in vertical or semi-vertical grain, with the middle parts in random grain with micro-porous adhesives. This type of triple layer wood engineering prevents swelling or distortion of the woodwork in future. All our sash windowsills are made of hardwood as standard.

Glazing

All our new windows are fitted with double glazed 24mm (4-16-4) argon gas filled K-glass units providing thermal properties of 1.1W/m2K as standard All kinds of different glass types such as safety, obscured, tinted, etc. can be used in accordance to a client’s needs.

Weather seals

We use weather pile or weather seals for ensuring maximum weather tightness. All seals comply with the requirements given in BS644 for timber windows and achieve a severe weather rating of Class 4 when tested in accordance with the requirements in BS6375.

U-Value

Thermal transmittance 1.5 W/(m2-K) test method ref. nr. EN ISO 12567-1.

Ironmongery

All our new sash windows are fitted with polished chrome sash pulleys, sash lifts and non-locking fitch fastener as standard. Sash trickle vents are available upon request. We can also offer you a wide variety of top class ironmongery from an extensive range of the best UK suppliers we work with.

Factory finish

Our new windows are factory spray finished with two primers and two topcoats in RAL 9010 color as standard. We use Teknos water-borne coatings which resin systems are both flexible and breathable, allowing  the timber to move naturally whilst minimising the cracking and peeling associated with traditional solvent based coatings. Other colors in RAL or other systems and clear varnish are available on request.
